Researchers Reveal That A Cup Of Black Tea Can Reduce Stress Levels
Many people find a cup of tea relaxing, but now there is proof that black tea can decrease stress levels. Not only is black tea great for emotional well-being, but it also has important physical health benefits.
Additionally, compared with the placebo group, those that consumed black tea four times a day for a period of six weeks had lower cortisol concentrations after a stressful event.
Cortisol is a stress hormone and in high concentrations and it has serious health implications including weight gain, impaired cognitive function, hyperglycemia, decreased bone density, and lower immunity; amongst other problems.
Researchers also found that blood platelet activation was lower in the group of tea drinkers. This suggests that black tea may also help to prevent blood clotting and reduce the risk of heart attacks. Similar results have been observed in other studies where drinking black tea was also found to lower blood pressure.
The ingredients responsible for lowering stress levels and improving blood circulation have not been isolated as yet. Tea is very complex, containing a wide range of compounds including flavonoids, polyphenols, catechins, and amino acids. These all have effects on the brains' neurotransmitters, although how these compounds affect stress levels independently is unknown at this stage.
Research has also shown that to fully benefit from the stress-relieving properties of black tea, it is important to use a high quality loose leaf tea.
Coolahoo, a company selling a popular tea infuser on Amazon says, "Using high quality tea leaf with a good infuser will help you get more benefits from tea." Coolahoo says the reason for this is that high quality tea is fresher and contains more nutrients while also providing better flavor, and a good tea infuser will allow the tea leaves to fully infuse with the hot water to draw all the flavor and important
compounds out of the tea leaf.
Daniel Hall, the CEO of Coolahoo adds, "We have read and heard that tea can help us relax, and now this study shows a direct link that it does, indeed, help us to get rid of stress hormones."
Hall adds, "I suggest trying some black loose leaf made in a good tea infuser whether it is ours or a different brand. Just the act of making the tea and smelling it as it infuses will help to relax you."
Coolahoo's tea infuser can be found on Amazon.com and as said by satisfied customer Patty:
"This is a wonderful tea infuser. The best one I have (and I have several). The mesh in the basket is very tiny, making it unnecessary to restrain. The lid keeps the heat in the mug keeping the tea piping hot. I highly recommend to lovers of loose tea."
In the study, the participants drank the tea four times a day, with the research report concluding that it helped to bring the stress hormones back to level while providing other health benefits.
Coolahoo is a new company and provider of the Premium Tea Infuser, sold on Amazon.com. The product was launched in July 2013 and is seeing robust sales and is getting many positive reviews. Coolahoo attempts to provide first class customer information and service for its products and will launch some new products in 2014.
