During the 12-week nutrition program, Healthy Numbers, participants have the opportunity to assess their current healthy status, create a better understanding of the food they eat, and through the third session the mental and emotional component of weight loss is addressed.
This comprehensive nutrition course was designed by dietitian and weight loss expert, Stephanie Margolis, RD, LD. This program addresses weight loss in addition to disease management such as diabetes, heart disease, and high cholesterol. Stephanie has spent the past decade helping individuals see success through scientifically-sound weight loss methods. She has worked with people in group and one-on-one counseling environments focusing on behaviors leading to a healthy weight. Stephanie has spent a significant amount of that time creating nutrition and fitness curricula encouraging positive lifestyle changes. Pulling from her background in education, fitness, nutrition and supplementation, Stephanie is able to offer a holistic view of health encouraging making change that last over the long-term.
During the third session participants are challenged to take a closer look at the things that may be preventing them from losing weight. This is done through the process of reframing negative patterns of thinking. Reframing is another way to examine the power of self-talk and create a positive outlook on barrier that may arise. By changing the way one sees a setback can influence the way the feel about the issue thus altering what they do about it. All of these things lead to a different result, hopefully turning s negative situation such as weight gain into a positive result such as motivation to exercise on a regular basis.
Through this session Stephanie takes a closer look at common excuses people give for why they are not sticking with their goals. These include fortune telling, over-generalization, and magnifying a small barrier. With strategies to change all these thought patterns Stephanie provides support and resources for those faced with these challenges.
Beyond the information outlined in this session, participants also receive handouts allowing them to work through the process of reframing their barriers and creating alternative, positive outcomes.
