“This is going to be a fun promotion,” says Sean Hansen, editor of InfamousGuitar.com. “Fans and guitar players join our site, then suggest t-shirt ideas. We will hopefully select one or more winners from the slogans suggested, and the winner will get one dollar from every t-shirt sold with that slogan for an entire year. Already we’ve had some pretty funny suggestions, a few risqué ones, and some downright ridiculous ideas. It doesn’t matter if we only sell one t-shirt or 10,000 t-shirts with the suggested slogan, we’ll pay the slogan-writer a dollar for each shirt sold. It’s that simple.”

The idea is to promote the InfamousGuitar.com $5,000 Online Guitar Solo Contest. The first two t-shirts rolled out by InfamousGuitar.com include the lines “I only do what my guitar tells me to do” and “Groupies Wanted: Applications Accepted Here.”

Guitar players and creative fans are invited to visit http://infamousguitar.com/viewblog.asp?id=360 to see the other slogan ideas, and to suggest their own. The promotion will last throughout July, and possibly longer, depending upon its success. Official rules for the promotion will be available at InfamousGuitar.com.

The InfamousGuitar.com $5,000 Online Guitar Solo contest began in May of 2008, and has already attracted hundreds of members to the site. Players of all skill levels, from beginner to semi-pro, are entering their 60-second guitar solos online for a chance to win the monthly $100 cash prize, and the annual $5,000 Grand Prize. Players and fans can participate in member forums, create “player profiles”, and upload original music for the world to hear.
