(EMAILWIRE.COM, June 04, 2008 ) InfamousGuitar.com and Infamous Publishing are proud to announce that Thomas Wedge's (a.k.a. SquidCat) 60-second guitar solo entry "Architeu This!" has won the first monthly competition in the InfamousGuitar.com $5,000 Online Guitar Solo Contest. The May competition was sponsored in part by GuitarPartsCentral.com.

"Squiddy's guitar solo was absolutely amazing," says Sean Hansen, co-founder of InfamousGuitar.com and a judge for the finals. "You can't help but want to move when you hear it...rhythmically, it's killer, and the chops Thomas employs are not meant to be tried at home. He's got a really subtle delay in the background, a teensy bit of flange, and it gives his solo flavor, but it doesn't sound processed or digital. Why this guy still has amateur status is beyond me."

Members of InfamousGuitar.com ranked Thomas's solo a 9.01 out of ten, which earned him a place in the finals. Judges gave him a score of 41.3 out of 50. Thomas' solo is available to listen to at http://www.infamousguitar.com.

"I think we were a little tough on everyone in the judging this month. It's our first month and I guess we didn't want to peak too early," says John Kirkwood. "But the bottom line is this...SquidCat's solo is a thing of beauty. He is just a sick guitar player. You have to go listen to it...it will stick in your head, you can't stop jamming to it, even well after the solo is over. To do that in a 60 second guitar solo is pretty amazing."

InfamousGuitar.com, a social media site for guitar players, has just begun its first monthly competition in May 2008, and has already had over 250,000 pages viewed on its site. Many guitar players and fans from the now-complete 2007 Guitar Center King of the Blues competition have migrated to InfamousGuitar.com, and its membership has grown into the hundreds, primarily through word-of-mouth viral marketing. InfamousGuitar.com expects thousands of members and millions of unique visitors during its 2008-2009 Online Guitar Solo Contest.
