Oregon Locals Craft Adventure Pairing Brews and River Rafting
Northwest Rafting, Brewmasters from Double Mountain Brewery and Nectar Creek Honeywine treat whitewater rafters to exclusive beers, mead and special infusions on a 4-day journey through Oregon’s wilderness
Voyaging four days through geological wonders in the Wild Rogue Wilderness, Northwest Rafting Company hosts travelers on one of America’s classic whitewater rafting trips. Rafters will not only experience the splendor of the Rogue River’s remarkable features, but they’ll be treated to a truly authentic local culinary experience. For the past four years Double Mountain Brewery and Northwest Rafting Company have been teaming up on the Rogue River to give rafters an experience they will never forget. With the addition of Nectar Creek Honeywine this year, travelers can’t go wrong.
It’s not beyond Double Mountain Brewery owner and brewmaster Matt Swihart to brew a beer on the annual Northwest Rafting Company Brews with Views trip using river water, yeast, malt, hops, and his tee shirt as a filter. In fact, he did just that on the Brews with Views trip two years ago. After each day of rafting through Oregon’s pristine wilderness, the brew master will turn the riverside camp into their own private taproom. Each year Double Mountain Brewery brings a variety of beers consisting of the four year round beers: Kolsch, Vaporizer, IRA, and Hop Lava, along with whatever is new and exciting. On the Rogue River rafting trip, Double Mountain will also introduce adventurers to a Randle, a device that allows beer to flow through a clear pressurized chamber filled with whatever delicious hop or fruit guests would like to infuse their beer with.
A recent addition to this classic trip, Northwest Rafting Company will be featuring local mead – a gluten-free alternative to beer and up and coming local Oregon brew. Founded by Northwest Rafting Company former guide, Nectar Creek Honeywine crafts delicious alcoholic beverages from their bees’ honey. Their classic Wildflower Session Mead captures the essence of the Willamette Valley and the complexity of honey. Aromas and flavors of ripe fruit and fresh honeycomb ignite the senses in every sip – a perfect way to relax after a day on the river.
At camp, Northwest Rafting Company guides prepare each evening’s meal with fresh, local ingredients and a specially selected craft brew will be paired with the meal. The steak and burgers pair great with the IRA and Hop Lava while the salmon and sushi pair fantastic with Kolsch and Vaporizer.
Northwest Rafting Company provides all your gear, safe navigation down the river, great company and delicious meals. The 4-day trip departs Sept. 11 and costs $995 per person. For more information visit www.nwrafting.com.
