Revolutionary Whiskey Stones
Whiskey Stones Get A Bad Rap
Whiskey stones or whiskey rocks are used as an alternative (not a replacement) for regular ice cubes. Made from stainless steel, soapstone, glass, plastic or marble and used to cool down a drink without diluting it. They are stored in the freezer, just like regular ice cubes, but they do not get as cold or last as long as ice does, it doesn't matter what type you buy. What they offer in return is a chance to enjoy the true taste and smell of a fine product, while still cooling the drink. How long they will last and how long they have to be frozen for, will vary depending on what kind you purchase.
Why Whiskey stones Get Negative Reviews
Negative reviews are sometimes posted on whiskey stone sites and they are all the same. "Does not keep my drink cold enough", "Have to use too many to keep my drink cold" or "Don't cool my drink like ice does". Although, there are some whiskey rocks that are better than others, it basically comes down to common sense. They are not miracle workers! If you read through the reviews, they are mostly all due to not understanding what they are meant for or using them incorrectly.
They will not cool your drink as long, if it is warm and to get the best results, you must use more of them. If you only use 1 or 2 in a warm drink, then, yes it would be hard to notice a difference, just like ice cubes the same size. Putting 2 small ice cubes in a warm drink, will make little difference, they will melt quickly and your drink will warm up in no time.
Do not keep your hand around the glass, this warms up the liquid and makes it harder for the stones for whiskey to work. Just like regular ice cubes would melt quicker.
Some ice sinks and some floats, but whiskey stones sit at the bottom of your glass, so the liquid at the bottom will cool down first. Let it sit for a few minutes, then give it a swirl before consuming it.
Make sure they are frozen long enough. Most types of whiskey rocks, like the ones made from soapstone have to be frozen for around 5 hours before you can use them, but certain ones made of stainless steel only have to be frozen for 1 hour before they are ready to use. The temperature and type of your freezer will also make a slight difference in the coolness of the stones.
Whiskey Stone Review
Soapstone Whiskey Rocks
Whiskey rocks made of soapstone can break, crack, scratch and they are heavy. They can only be used in a few alcoholic drinks, have to be frozen for 5 hours before you can use them and mining soapstone is a threat to the habitat of India's Tigers.
Great White Ice Stainless Steel Whiskey Stones
Great White Ice stainless steel whiskey rocks are the ones that I recommend. They are made from stainless steel and contain a secret gel that keeps them cold from the inside out, which is why they remain colder longer than the other types on the market. They are durable, only have to be frozen for 1 hour, can be used in any drink, will never rust or corrode, can be used in the dishwasher, are 100% environmentally friendly, portable, easy to store, light, look great in any drink and are a great topic of conversation. Don't settle for second best, Great white Ice whiskey stones are truly revolutionary and are by far the best on the market.
