The Amazing Benefits Of Growing Wheatgrass (Cat Grass) For Your Kitty
The Magic Ingredient For Your Cats Health
Wheatgrass is not only healthy for people, but it is especially beneficial for our feline friends. It's a pretty cute sight to watch them playing and eating in the garden and if you know how beneficial this is for your cat, you will enjoy it even more. Now, as an owner of three cats, I can agree that it is adorable to watch them sneak around trying not to be seen while chewing up my plants. Although it is very cute it gets to a point where something needs to be done because they are actually starting to kill some of my plants. And when the realization came, is when I began to learn about growing my own cat grass for my cats to eat instead of our plants!
Benefits of Wheatgrass
Excellent For Digestive Health
Wheatgrass is rich in fiber which makes it a natural laxative. Your cat is never going to have constipation, as wheatgrass works as an excellent detoxifier. It helps in flushing out toxins from the body and maintains the digestive health.
Stimulates Blood Flow
Wheatgrass has folic acid and chlorophyll which helps in hemoglobin production. Hemoglobin helps in moving oxygen throughout the blood. So, with better blood flow be prepared for some more fun with your kittens chasing birds around in the garden, as your pet is surely going to have more energy to keep you on your toes.
One of the Benefits of Wheatgrass is that it helps their stomach in getting rid of all inedible matter. Cats do not have enzymes and it is crucial to help them break all vegetable matter from their body. Next time your cat gulps down a hairball – do not worry! Just let your cat feast on some home grown organic cat grass and out will it go!
Rich In Vitamins
Wheatgrass is a storehouse of powerful minerals and vitamins. Vitamin E, B, B12 and B13 are all richly available in cat grass which helps in maintaining their coat, skin, keeps them active, stimulates their metabolism, boosts their immunity, helps in preventing anemia and reduces risk of cancer.
Prepare The Planting Grass Seed
You need organic hard wheat berries for growing wheatgrass sprouts. The best part is that this can be planted anytime of the year. It doesn't take much time, it is simple and very fun. You need to take just 2 tablespoons of these organic wheat berries and soak them. You can use a glass jar with filtered water. These berries should be soaked for at least 10 hours. After this period, the berries need to be well drained and then dried for at least 6 hours. After this 6 hour period, the berries need to be soaked and drained again. This initial process of planting grass seed needs to be done at least 3 times.
Next, you will need a planting tray with draining holes. This tray will be filled with completely moist soil. The rinsed berries need to be spread well across this tray. Cover this tray using anything which has holes to ensure better air circulation. This tray can then be placed in a dim room. The seeds can be watered at least twice a day till the roots start digging in the soil. Keep watering the soil regularly.
After just 3-4 days, you will find the grass reaching 1-2 inches in height. Once you find this, slowly remove its cover and keep it under direct sunlight, to help the grass get its famous green color. Make sure you keep the soil moist so that the grass doesn't die and in around only 7 days, your cats will be able to enjoy this delicious cat grass!
