The Perfect Time Of Year For Sex. Perfect Sex, A Romantic Comedy Novel
When Looking For Your Perfect Match, Why Not Try On-Line?
"Back when I started writing the novel, internet dating was thought of as the prerogative of the desperate or unattractive," Robin says. "Now it's become an accepted way of meeting potential partners."
Susie attracts a horde of admirers with her hyped-up profile and proceeds to date as many of them as she can – all raw material for the book she writes based on her experiences. Her book unexpectedly becomes a best seller but her love life is a series of mishaps and disasters. Is Perfect Sex just a fantasy?
"I've done some online dating myself," Robin says. "But unfortunately my experiences weren't as entertaining as Susie's. But this book is about love and sex from a female viewpoint and women will find it entertaining even if they've never done any internet dating. I've had readers say to me, "Have you been spying on me? You've written about my life!"'
Robin chose to publish Perfect Sex as an e-book, as well as a "print on demand" book on Amazon because of its global identity. "It's the most successful and well-known digital publishing platform in the world and it's very user-friendly for those like myself who are technologically challenged. It's also great that you have the options of publishing in digital, print or both."
However, she says that sometimes not publishing is the wisest option. "Back when I first wrote Perfect Sex in 2003, digital publishing was only in its infancy. When none of the traditional publishers were interested in publishing it, I put it away and forgot about it. Then earlier this year, after I'd finished my first novel How Not To Commit Murder, I dragged Perfect Sex back out of its virtual bottom drawer – and cringed.
"The basic story was fine, but to create an engaging Romantic Comedy, it needed a massive reconstruction. Luckily I had ten years of perspective and writing experience to draw on and the result is a much tighter, more readable novel."
