League City Child Dies After Being Left in Hot Car Reports Arguello, Hope & Associates
A League City family is morning the loss of their toddler after the father accident left the child in the backseat of a hot car.
When the father went to pick his baby up the daycare later that day in his personal vehicle, the daycare reported that the child had not been dropped off. He ran back to his car and realized that the baby was still in the back seat.
Emergency workers were dispatched however the baby was pronounced dead on the scene. The attorneys are Arguello, Hope & Associates send their condolences to the family on their loss.
Police are warning families to be cautious especially during summer months to remember to ACT.
A - Avoid heatstroke-related injury and stroke. Do not leave children in a hot car, not even for a short period of time. Avoid leaving your doors unlocked so that children cannot get in the car without your noticing.
C – Create reminders. By placing something you need in the backseat it can remind you of additional passengers you are carrying, especially if you’re used to driving alone.
T – Take action. If you see a child left along in a hot car, call 911 or the authorities as it could save their life.
In a typical year approximately 175 persons are killed due to heat-related injuries and stroke. According to the Texas Department of State Health Services, between 2003 and 2008, there were 263 heat-related deaths reported among Texas residents.
As summer winds down and temperatures begin to dip it is important that Houston residents still take precautions for avoiding heat stroke and other heat-related injuries, particularly those who work outside.
