Delaware’s 3 Casinos Launch Online Gaming
The three casinos in Delaware have launched their first phase of the state’s online gambling operation, with an October target for real-money online operations.
Ran by the slot machine company IGT, the Delaware casino’s homepage directs visitors to the Facebook-linked game platform DoubleDown Casino. IGT is one of Delaware’s contractual slots vendors.
Delaware is on track to be the first state in the nation to offer full, legal casino games online, made possible by new legislation that cleared the General Assembly last year. Nevada also recently legalized online poker, and beta sites have been operating since spring, but there’s no word on when real-cash games will be available.
New Jersey has also passed an online gambling law, but wasn’t passed until a few months ago. According to Tom Cook, Delaware’s secretary of finance, said the first phase will allow lawmakers to figure out how people work in those games and get players acclimated to the legalized environment of online gambling.
While the free games will be open to anyone in the world, the soon coming real-money games will be available only to players in Delaware, in accordance with federal laws. The free games will continue to be available even when the real games are integrated onto the site, with a variety of table games, card games, and brand-name slot machines.
