Man Faces Manslaughter Charges After Weekend Accident Reports Arguello, Hope & Associates
On Saturday evening a two-vehicle accident in northwest Harris County left one man dead and two others injured.
According to authorities a Dodge pick-up truck that was driving south in the 15000 block of West Little York Road ran a red light and crashed into a gray Lexus SUV just after 8 p.m. The Lexus was traveling north on Addicks Satsuma Road and was hit just as the driver crossed the intersection.
The two occupants of the SUV were not hurt. The backseat passenger of the Dodge pick-up truck was ejected from the vehicle while the driver and passenger suffered serious injuries. The male passenger ejected from the truck was taken to North Cypress Hospital under critical condition where he later died from his injuries.
Investigators believe that the driver of the Dodge pick-up truck may have been intoxicated at the time of the accident. He is facing intoxication manslaughter charges.
According to the Texas Department of Transportation (DOT) there were more than 5,300 alcohol-related accidents throughout the state in 2011. Approximately 6% of the alcohol-related accidents were fatal. Furthermore, the DOT notes that alcohol-related accidents most frequently occurred on Saturday evenings.
