New Zealand Sailing Team: Aleh and Powrie Lead 470 Worlds
With one race to go, Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie are looking to claim their first world title in the Olympic 470 class.
The upcoming shortened race, in which points are incurred at a double standard, the Austrian, French and Chinese crews placed in second, third and fourth and are close in points. The battle for the last stand of the podium will be tough.
Jo Aleh says the last day of the race didnít go as they had planned it to. She said the Race was annoying and there were several missed opportunities, with bad calls. Luckily, they were able to make it back up to the 13th eventually, and the rest of the competitors had just as a hard time as they did, letting them keep their place.
The other two New Zealand crews racing in the Menís fleet were Francisco Lardies and Luke Stevenson, who have placed 49th, as well as Richard and John Power ending their races in the 100th position.
The Top Three standings for the Womenís fleet were Jo Aleh and Polly Powrie, Lara Vadlau and Jolanta Ogar, and Camille Lecointre and Mathilde Geron.
