When Going Gets Tough Women are Attracted to Softer Men reports On

Alpha males less likely to share assets and money

(EMAILWIRE.COM, March 16, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- In a new study by the University of Queensland's school of psychology, it was found that women who have less financial security prefer a feminine-looking man over a macho alpha male.

The study looked at over 700 individuals and it showed that when times become tough, women choose the more gentle, more feminine-looking male, over the masculine-looking macho men.

By using online dating profiles morphed in order to create more or less masculine/feminine facial features, the study showed that women who possessed less financial security preferred the feminine looking men.

Co-author of the research, Dr. Shelli Dubbs, noted that women perceived that softer-looking men are less likely to stray from the relationship, and are kinder and more willing to share their income and assets with both women and their children.

"Often women prefer that whole cute, fresh-faced, boy-next-door look," Dubbs was quoted as saying by The Sunday Mail.

Dubbs also noted the study supported the findings of similar international studies that defies the misconception that nice guys finish last.

"The women of lower socioeconomic status, whose career prospects weren't as good, and had less financial security overall, had very different mate preferences," she said.

"The fact they went for more feminine-looking men is an indication of how they see them as more kind, more caring, more likely to remain faithful, how good a father they might be, and while they may not be as well off as the more masculine-looking guys, they are more likely to share their resources with the women," she said.
