Residents of Clagett Courts Relocated Following Plumbing Issue reports Emergency Plumbers South Hampton
City meetings being held to explain the situation
Director of housing for Spartanburg Housing Authority, Darly Dalton, stated that the residents were moved in order to allow engineers the needed time to work on the problem directly.
“The upstairs bathrooms in some of the units were leaking downstairs, and we didn't want to leave people in those units,” Dalton said. “Some of the residents were relocated into other units inside Cammie Clagett, and a few residents were moved outside to other housing units.”
The Spartanburg Housing Authority is now working with the engineers in order to resolve the issue. Dalton stated that the engineers are conducting an assessment of plumbing problems, stating it will present a written report on the issue within a fortnight.
There are several community meetings that have been held with residents in order to explain the problems in detail and length.
The Cami Clagett Courts are located at 400 Highland Avenue, and were build in the early 1970s. There are 150 units in total at the complex. Once engineers complete the general assessment, the residents will be informed on how lengthy the relocation will be.
“The safety and the health of our residents is the most important concern of this agency at all times,” Harry A. Byrd Jr., housing authority executive director, said in a statement. “My staff understands the urgency of the situation and has responded quickly and responsively to ensure that we do not compromise the well-being of our residents.”
