More than 35,000 pounds of sausage have been recalled due to the possibility of plastic fragments inside of the product.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 23, 2013 ) MOBILE, Ala. – Smithfield Packing Company is recalling 38,000 pounds of pork sausage that may contain pieces of plastic.
According to The Agriculture Department's Food Safety and Inspection Service, the company has recalled the "Gwaltney mild pork sausage roll."
The recalled product was produced on January 11. The sausage was distributed in the following states: Alabama, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Texas.
Smithfield issued the recall after they received complaints from two consumers.
