Comedian and Magician to Host Cupcake Challenge Show reports Drew Thomas Magic
Comedic illusionists have real talent according to comedy club owner
(EMAILWIRE.COM, February 16, 2013 ) San Francisco, CA -- Justin Willman is not telling tales out of school when it comes to magic, at least that's what those attending the 2013 Viaero Great American Comedy Festival in Norfolk will find out when they see his showcase.
Willam, who has been noted as “a new breed of magicians who's making magic cool again for grown-ups” as being a Los Angeles Times, will also be a host on a new “Cupcake Wars” Food Network show.
Aside from his television gig, William will be one of three magicians that will assist in the kickoff of the 2013 festival at the Johnny Carson Theater in Norfolk on Wednesday. He will be performing alongside comedians Danny Cole and Mike Caveney. Each of the three were selected by Richard Barrett, who manages the Comedy and Magic Club in Hermosa Beach, California.
“I think this will be a really well-rounded show with talent at a world-class level,” said Barrett, who also serves as a judge of the stand-up comedy competition at the festival.
The young Willman has made appearances on shows like Ellen, and has even performed on the “Tonight Show”. He also performs anywhere from the Los Angeles comic book shops to larger theaters across the nation, keeping in mind that all gigs are good gigs to have. Likely William's most prized showcase was when he received a standing ovation from the current President of the United States, Barack Obama, after a private performance at the White House.
“He’s a very charismatic entertainer,” Barrett said.
Barrett also noted Danny Cole is a prime illusionist with original tricks. He performs a silent act that Barrett says separates him from other magicians. “He's special,” Barett puts it plainly.
