This year was a particularly busy start to the new school year for Bernadette Curry, who has each of her five children attending St. Joseph's Catholic Primary School in Northcote.
The start of the school year also marked a new era for five-year-old twins, Darcy and Hugh, who will have to talk through the school gates for the first time in their young lives.
Ever since the children were born, they have watched the older siblings head off to school, and this morning it was finally their turns to take in the sites and revel in the opportunity to see what school-life was all about.

Uniforms are washed and prepared the night before, but that does little to cut down the time spent in early-morning preparation, which always holds a surprise or two.
