Cloud Computing Expert Resigns from Hewlett-Packard reports GNAX
No word on the reason for the sudden departure
(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 23, 2013 ) Atlanta, GA -- Zorawar “Biri” Singh has recently resigned from the Hewlett-Packard company. Singh was the senior vice president and general manager for the Cloud Computing Services at the company.
Roger Levy, who stands as the group's vice president for technology and customer relations, is set to replace him on the interim basis. There has not been word on whether Singh left to take on another job or whether he even stated he was leaving prior to his seemingly sudden departure.
The resignation of Singh was confirmed by an HP spokesperson moments after his departure.
“HP remains committed to our Converged Cloud portfolio. In particular, HP Cloud Services is critical to HP’s efforts to deliver superior public cloud infrastructure, services and solutions to our customers. Roger Levy, vice president, Technology and Customer Operations of HP Cloud Services, will serve as the interim leader for HP Cloud Services. The company thanks Zorawar ‘Biri’ Singh for his passion and commitment to drive our public cloud vision and wish him well.”
Singh had been in charge of overseeing HP's global cloud computing footprint. The position included the handling of oversight of the companies infrastructure, platform services, and ecosystem efforts, in regards to the cloud computing portion.
Singh had joined HP after leaving IBM, and was hired by Leo Apotheker, former CEO of the company. Singh had been brought in to build the cloud service that would be able to compete against the Amazon Web Services cloud. Apotheker had announced the effort at a larger HP even in San Francisco in early 2011. That was just one of many strategy elements that were initiated by Apotheker, who stood as CEO of HP for less than a year. Such concepts by Apotheker are credited with keeping HP in place, despite his short reign as the leader of the company.
