Twitter Seats May Be Wave of Moviehouse Future reports Theatre Tickets 4 U

More patrons looking to use the seats that allow for the tweets

(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 16, 2013 ) London, U.K -- In the United States one can now be offered 'Tweet seats” where moviegoers are allowed to, and in fact are encouraged, to post comments about the performance on their social media messaging sites without distracting other audience members.

Minnesota's Guthrie theater formalized the growing trend of often off-putting tweeters with their new balcony-level section. The tweeting addicts can now enjoy their own section of the theater “that will not be disruptive to other patrons”. The theater made the change for their latest run of The Servant With Two Masters, according to the daily mail.

Multiple theaters, such as the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Palm Opera in Florida, and New York's Public Theater have reportedly attempted to try out the special section for the ever-growing number of individuals who seem to not be able to keep their thumbs still.

The move has some critics in the United Kingdom, who are showing they have mixed feelings about the tendency for active participation at London's West End. There seem to simply be too many reaching for their phones during performances.

"There's little doubt that it disturbs other audience members, and probably even cast members," wrote David Lister in The Independent recently.

"And, of course, one hopes that people are too busy concentrating on the action to fish their mobile out of their pocket or bag. On the other hand, they are engaged enough to want a post a review," wrote Lister.

There is a sort of pleasing-both-sides maneuver, theaters and auditoriums when it comes to offering tweet seats, as facilities are making an effort to locate them in an area that the glow of the customers will not bother the other customers. While there is likely no way to make sure everyone is 100% comfortable with those they sit near, the glow of a tweet is likely much less obnoxious than screaming children or the ringing of a cell phone followed by unnecessary gabbing.
