(EMAILWIRE.COM, January 16, 2013 ) Dothan, AL -- The goal of the Bethesda Project is to provide homeless men and women of Philadelphia with care and support to enable each individual to reach his or her highest level of self-sufficiency. Bethesda Project was founded in 1979 and has continued to reach out to those experiencing homelessness in the community. The program serves over 7,000 homeless and former homeless men and women each year.

The services offered through Bethesda Project include emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, independent housing, transitional housing, case management services and community activities to help individuals achieve their personal goals. The following are some of the services the Bethesda Project provides:

Happy Woman- All Bethesda Project residents are expected to contribute 30% of their monthly income toward rent, participate in daily chores, community life, case management and medication monitoring. Residents are required to sign a lease and house rules agreement.

The Bethesda Beacon – The Bethesda Beacon is a new initiative to make services for highly vulnerable individuals more attainable. These services include entry-level programs for chronically homeless men and women suffering with addiction and/or mental illnesses and are offered at five Bethesda Project locations. The locations provide food, shelter and referrals to a variety of social services to its participants.

Emergency Shelter – The emergency shelter serves as a transitional facility for homeless men in the Philadelphia area before they can be housed at Bethesda Project residences.

Permanent Supportive Housing – The Bethesda Project offers supportive housing to formerly homeless men and women where they can receive supportive services to help them achieve a higher degree of independent living.

Independent Housing – Bethesda Project’s long-term independent housing options provide formerly homeless men and women that are able to live self sufficiently with stable residential facilities.

All of the Bethesda Project’s services are designed to lift the homeless out of their homelessness by empowering them. More information about the programs and services of Bethesda Project be obtained by calling (215) 985-1600 or visiting their website at www.bethesdaproject.org.
