[154 Pages Report] Metallized Film Market Analysis Report on Latest Trends, Growth Factors, Key Players and more. Categorizing the global market by Type, Application, End-Use Industry, and Region.
(EMAILWIRE.COM, December 23, 2019 ) Market Overview
Metallized films are polymer films coated with a thin layer of metal, usually aluminum. They offer the glossy metallic appearance of an aluminum foil at a reduced weight and cost. Metallized films are widely used for decorative purposes and food packaging, and also for specialty applications including insulation and electronics. Metallization is performed using a physical vapor deposition process. Aluminum is the most common metal used for deposition, but other metals such as nickel or chromium are also used. The metal is heated and evaporated under a vacuum. This condenses on the cold polymer film, which is unwound near the metal vapor source.
Metallized Film Market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 5.09% during the forecast period (2019-2026)

Market Dynamics
Rising demand for customer-friendly packaging and Increasing demand for a longer shelf life of food products are the major driving factors for the growth of the market. Metallized films are used as a susceptor for cooking in microwave ovens. An example is a microwave popcorn bag. Many food items are also packaged using metallized films for appearance only, as these produce a package with greater sparkle when compared to competing for products that use printed paper or polymer films. Companies are launching new products in the market. For instance, in August 2018, Cosmo Films has introduced a cast polypropylene (CPP) metalized film with high metal bond strength. This film has been specially designed to offer superior interlayer bond strength for making multi-layer laminate structures, which in turn enhances barrier properties.
However, stringent regulations in different economics on automotive films is the key restraint hindering the growth of the market.
Market Segmentation
By end-use industry, the Metallized Film Market is segmented into packaging, healthcare, electronics, food & beverage, decorative and others. Others include aerospace, insulation, and construction. The packaging industry is expected to hold a major market share in the forecast period. Both metallized PET and PP have replaced foil laminates for products such as snack foods, coffee, and candy, which do not require the superior barrier of aluminium foil. Metallized nylon and polyethylene are used in the meat export market. The controlled permeation extends shelf life. Companies are focusing to expand their portfolios. For instance, in September 2018, Toray Plastics (America) Inc. has expanded its portfolio of white films and now offers consumer product goods (CPG) companies and converters five new Torayfan white-pigmented, metalized biaxially-oriented polypropylene (BOPP) films.
On the basis of material used, the market is divided into nylon, polyimide, polyethylene terephthalate, polyethylene, polypropylene, polycarbonate and others. Others include thermoplastic polyurethane.
Geographical Analysis
Solid development can be seen in metallized film market in India and China from Asia Pacific region. Growth in the buying power from consumers and increasing interest on metallized films from the different end-use industries particularly from decorative and packaging segments are the crucial factors for the market growth. Manufacturers are launching new products from Asia Pacific region. For instance, in March 2019, Uflex film division has showcased new products for flexible packaging. It is showing one product in two variants, which is a high barrier metalized BOPP film.
Competitive Landscape
The metallized fIlm market is competitive with existing players in the market. Some of the major players include Bollore Inc., Jindal Poly Films Limited, Ester Industries, Taghleef Industries, Jolybar Filmtechnic Converting Ltd., Polinas, Toray Industries Inc., Uflex Ltd., Kaveri Metallising & Coating Ind. Private Limited, Cosmo Films, Flex Films and Accured Plastics Ltd.
The key players are adopting various key strategies such as product launches, collaborations, mergers & acquisitions which are contributing to the growth of the metallized film market.
