Ronaldo Looks to Return to Man United reports Football Ticket Net
Winger may be able to force a move after waiting for new Madrid contract
It is ironic how Ronaldo has come full circle as Sir Alex Ferguson seemingly wants the prodigal son back in the Trafford fold.
Ronaldo's £810 million get-out clause seemingly gives Madrid the upper hand, but a closer look shows that it may not be the case.
When summer comes, Ronaldo will have two years remaining on his current contract. If he chooses to snub a new deal, Madrid will have to accept a much lower fee, regardless of the get-out clause.
Back in 2009, United lost their attempt to retain Ronaldo, who forced a move for a £80 million fee. It appears that now, the shoe is firmly on the other food.
If nothing else, it must be pure amusement for Alex Ferguson to watch it unfold, as a frustrated Ronaldo watched Lionel Messi nab a six-year deal with Barcelona that is worth over £100 million.
The winger was promised a contract in January by Real president Florentino Perez, but it appears that Madrid are still playing catch-up, claiming Ronaldo would be getting on a £25 million per-year offer for £25 a season.
As lucrative as the offer is, it may be too late, as Ronaldo has told former United teammates he wishes to return. Madrid officials have already discussed a transfer fee they would accept, noting the number somewhere around £122 million.
Real would bank nearly £272 million if the £150 million in Ronaldo wages is included.
