According to senior analyst at Informa Telecoms and Media, Shailendra Pandey, the majority of advertisers and brand names have not yet managed to consistently receive their desired payout when it comes to mobile advertising. Because of this, most of them are sticking to computer and television ads to effectively engage viewers.
Still, Informa reports that in 2013, mobile advertising revenues will reach an all time high. Many advertisers are seeing big gains thanks to mobile app advertising, which is becoming more and more popular.
Compared to advertising revenue from computer, television, and print ads, mobile advertising revenue will be a very small share even with the significant increase from 2012 to 2013. However, as mobile app popularity continues to rise, it is unknown how large mobile advertising revenue will grow in the next few years.
According to Pandey, messaging and voice will play a large role in mobile advertising in the next few years as well saying, “Mobile operators should think of the possible benefits in the wider context with mobile advertising. They might not get direct revenues from mobile advertising but it can help them to develop and offer a more compelling suite of m-commerce services, increase subscriber loyalty and help to reduce churn on their networks.”
With the expected growth of nearly $5 billion from 2012 to 2013, things are looking up for mobile advertisers. With the biggest increase in one year to date, and with the ever-increasing mobile technology being created every year, the sky's the limit when it comes to the future of mobile advertising revenue.
